Actually I feel the AF on my 7d mark ii is working fine. In fact all the concerns of the AF or IQ arise from my plan to buy a Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens in the near future. Because I heard some perple having front or back focus problems with those lens, so I just try to pratice how to test the AF performance of a lens.
I went on this topic on the same issue. One year I was shooting on the Canon 6D and Sigma ART lens, 35 and 50 (Canon 6D is a three years old). Suddenly started having problems with the center focus point. When i focusing, the central point - focus floats, repeatedly rebuilt and hits or misses the target -50/50.
Used a Canon 6D and Canon 70-200 f/4 lens. Shooting in Manual Mode, settings were 1/500, f/4 ISO 200/250 both shot at about a focal length of 100mm, subject is in the same spot just turned a slightly before taking the shot. Camera -Icon Menu Settings top. There are four camera-icon menus: CAMERA•, CAMERA••, CAMERA••• and CAMERA••••. I leave most settings at their defaults. To get to them, press MENU and click to the first four items along the top left. They look like four little camera icons, in red. Purchased first one just before Thanksgiving and the second one at the beginning of February - both from Beach Camera. Good luck!!
