The quad exhaust, the exhaust tips are more to the center than the two exhaust tips from a normal E60 are! The rear bumper/diffuser. The license plate cutout is smaller. The most interesting one: look for a keyhole. The M5 had an automatic boot so it didn't have a keyhole, whereas most normal 5-series did have a keyhole to open the boot.
Changing the E60 Interior. The BMW E60 interior has received quite a few negative comments. Admittedly, I like the stitched leather and more rounded curves of my E39 M5 interior, but I really don't find a great deal of fault with the new 5-series interior. I think it's rare in the US. But in other countries a lot of the 3series had cloth interior since they have the 320i and 318i models. When I lived in Grand Cayman the majority of the 3series there were 318i and 320i so cloth interior was popular.
